Thank you Kenneth for the comprehensive note. My worry is frequent urination due to enlarged prostate. Being trapped in a bed. Right now, I'm dealing with nerves as tomorrow's the day. Glad your recovery is going good!!

Marie Myers For the first 2-3 days, you will have a urinary catheter draining your bladder , so you won’t have to worry about that. After that Comes out, then you get the urinal. You will be able to stand up when you have to urinate. Wishing you a smooth journey through surgery and recovery!

Sounds like you're in great hands. I like how Dr. Castro, in the video, says to go to place that does a ton of these procedures. That's why I went to Mayo Clinic. I did research hospitals there in California but living in Nebraska and not being wealthy. Lol. I'm sure you'll do well. The anxiety is the worse. Good luck with your operation.

Hi Kenneth- your story is much like mine, I too am 58 and had mitral regurgitation. I live on the east coast and did research to find a surgeon as well. I had my surgery at the Cleveland Clinic and had robotic minimally invasive mitral valve repair on January 28, 2022 and am doing great. Sounds like you found a great surgeon...best wishes....you can do this and you will feel better afterwards

Richard Munson I can honestly say that if i got through this being a hypochondriac and an only child baby, you all will do fine. My only advice is to pick a great hospital, a doctor that lives and breathes your particular situation and if you are a candidate for minimally invasive, mitral valve repair, do it. Is it painless? No, after all it is open heart surgery but i believe the recovery time is shorter.

My husband likes dark humor (he is oncologist so it does come in handy) and I love when we joke for example about how quickly he'll find new chick after I'm gone etc... He started going to gym past few months so preparations are fully on hahaha....
