Oh wow! Yeah this is a good site thus far. I actually found out about the site from watching some videos on you tube about it. It seems as though not many people get the pulmonary valve fixed. Fortunately I havent had any problems thus far until now. I think it\'s all the afterwords that I am concerned with all the tubes wires and feeling helpless and depending on others for care. My wife and I just adopted a child as well. So we have alot going on. I never thought the cardiologist would call up and say you need to have this fixed. I wouldnt wait anymore then six months. Its crazy and scary too because I really dont feel any different just from an anatomy standpoint I guess they can see it right away on the cardiac MRI. I\'m going up to boston childrens hospital which is supposed to be one of the best and using the surgeon my cardiologist recommended I did go for a second opinion but didnt hear anything back as of yet.

Jon, if you stay tuned to this site, you will get educated real fast. There are many on here that have valve issues similar to yours - it is a good support group. You will be filled with education and inspiration. I too had open heart surgery before but I was 40 and it was a small hole in the heart that required 1 stitch. I am now scheduled for OHS on July 12 at Cleveland Clinic for a mitral valve repair. You are not alone in this journey.

jon baer I have been experiencing some difficulty with the insurance now the surgeon that was recommended to me is highly qualified and skilled to do my pulmonary valve however he is considered out of network and the hospital is in network. At the hospital insurance they seemed to state that it was a little strange for the hospital to be in network and the surgeon be out of network. Now I only have one insurance is there any other ways to obtain more insurance. They also told me about a letter of medical necessity to submit to the insurance carrier so be considered as in network so I would be able to get more coverage for the surgery. I hate to have it come down to insurance issues but I need to have an idea what to expect at the same time.
