I am located in Puyallup and would be more than happy to talk further and answer any questions you may have, as I know this can be a weird time mentally. Reach out anytime - 1cleanfg@gmail.com -Andy

Dan Fouratt Jason, I read you story and can relate to the initial emotional feelings. I had them too. My first positive step was to research survival rates. We are in shape, active and have many other positive things going for us. My wife and I determined my chances of coming home for the hospital were exceptionally high. (Adam wrote an article this spring about recovery.) Though difficult we put all our emotional baggage behind us and focus on preparing for the surgery and post surgery. I met with a nutritionist and she recommended 1.5 grams of protien for every 100 kilos I weigh. The period was now until 3 months post surgery. High protien was to help the body recover from the work of the surgeon. We change my diet. I continued to exercise at the limits my doctor's set for me. I gave up alcohol. I tested and found high protien snacks and items that I liked. We prepared meals (high protein) for post surgery. I purchased recovery cloths (sweets, front button shirts and good slip on walking shoes) as I was getting out to the robe they supplied. We planned a two month post surgery trip as a present to us. What we did not do was think about the surgery. Easier said then done but you will come out of this so focus on that aspect.
One last advice is walk as much as you can in the hospital.
