Cherie , you are doing really well . Needing to have open heart surgery is a very big thing . Going through the actual surgery is hard going , especially if you’re trying to start strong for family and friends too . Recovering and adjusting all takes time . Like a lot of us , adam felt isolated after his surgery and started this wonderful online community . You will adjust and adapt but it all takes times . Doing it in these covid times makes everything harder and more worrying . You are going to be okay but get reviewed and take life one day at a time . It gets easier .

Hi Cherie , Welcome It is very early days since your open heart surgery , you are doing really well . It is a huge life change and can take quite a while to adjust to physically and mentally . Any kind of task or hobby might be difficult to concentrate on just now because of the waves of post op fatigue that sweep over us after open heart surgery . Surgery that has allowed us to carry on with our lives . You sound to be doing all the right things to adjust to the sound . The sound will become less noticeable over time and eventually you should become more accepting of it . If /when I stop hearing the sound of mine , I will be very worried , very worried indeed ! I joined a samba band , that was a great way to embrace the sound . When I feel better and have more spare time , I will start going again. This lovely community is here to listen and support . We have all had to change and adapt in different ways , but we are all still here to tell the tale .
