It was suggested to me to get the mechanical valve at the time of my surgery because I was 43 and had two young boys...ages 12 and 16 at the time. Honestly I also didn't want to face another surgery in my future. Anne

Thanks Anne, I will be getting a mechanical one. It would be great if it last as long as yours. I really hope I will have no problems returning to my manual labor job. I need to be able to pick up and load up to 70 lbs. by myself.... Read more.

Honestly after I had my surgery I felt like a new person.....I had so much energy. You do have to pay attention to your diet when on coumadin....I suggest learning as much as you can about the foods you eat. Good luck and I will pray for a speedy recovered... Read more.
