Never joined a website group before but have been reading some very
positive and supportive comments from folks. My open heart surgery is in15 days. Trying not to over think & read too much. Anxiety is growing more than expected. Any suggestions for what to bring to hospital out of the norm and any special items for recovery at the house? Thanks

Carmen P I was given a soft front closure bra at the hospital after surgery. It was not the most comfortable bra I have worn. I would suggest finding at least a couple of soft, front closure bras without underwires to take to the hospital. I needed support for the incision site and going without a bra was not for me. I slept on the couch because the bed was more difficult to get in to and out of. A shower with a seat is a must. The hospital will provide almost everything you need. I found that I only needed clothes/pajamas and house shoes to wear home. Looking fabulous did not seem to be important while I was there and on pain medication.

Bob Fessler You will do great Martha! Relax if you can. I hear the hospital will provide All that you need. Wear the clothes to the hospital that you want to wear home. Bring a pair of pajama bottoms. Bring the electronics, ie phone/ipad/charging stuff you need/want. Maybe earplugs and the misc bathroom items you can think of that the hospital might not have. No matter what, don't worry, it will work out.

Bob Jensen Martha. I found it the best choice I made was to bring pajamas to the hospital because that's what I wore home with a robe. Regarding after the surgery I lived in my recliner for 3 weeks because it was hard to sleep laying flat and it was very comfortable. If you don't have one see if somebody can loan you one.
Tracy Simmons Wishing you the very best in your upcoming surgery.
Cathleen Weed Best wishes tomorrow for a very successful surgery and an easy recovery!
