Daneen Douglas Yes, did you contact your doctor? I’ve been thinking about you as well Sue.

Sue Maize Thanks so much both of you for reaching out. Especially since you’re both still in early days with your own recoveries. 💕 I didn’t reach out to my cardiologist because he’s a very hard person to get in touch with, and I thought I’d give it a couple of days and then reach out to my surgeon. I’m still very fatigued but not as bad as Saturday and I don’t have the thumping in my chest quite as bad either. I think I’m also a bit nervous that they may try to move up my surgery, and I have this dialogue in my head about everything I think I need to get done before hand. I got some unwelcome news last week about guardianship for my 2 brothers (both disabled) should anything happen to me, so I’m wondering if that played a part. Just trying to surrender it all to God because I really can’t see what he can and trusting him has never failed me before. But I appreciate you reaching out and I will definitely contact the surgeon if it gets worse. 💗🙏🏻

Please contact the surgeon if it gets worse they will bump you up in the schedule. When I went into the ER with dizziness and shortness of breath the cardiologist told me I had jumped to critical level snd they scheduled my surgery. Honestly I am glad it's over and now I can focus on recovery. Remember there is never a good time for this to happen. And I am sure God wants you to put yourself first right now so you will be able to help others. Don't wait too long to take action is my advice. You seem like such a wonderful and caring person!! Please get yourself checked out again in the ER if you start to feel weird. God Bless!!

Rose Madura Sue, you are a great person and a woman of passionate faith. Remember that God is in control of everything. I think that as we await surgery and even after the surgery, we are super aware of our bodies. That being said, don't put off investigating alarming symptoms by reaching out to your cardiologist or even GP if you can't get in touch with the cardiologist. You have to be your own advocate. I don't know how the universal health care system works in Canada. I have heard both good and bad. Hang in there! I'll be praying for you. 🙏

Yumiko Ishida Sending you lots of Please do consult a doctor! Urgent surgery is better than being in a state where they cannot operate on you… I pushed myself through what turned out to be afib (the word was not in my vocabulary at the time) and it caused a lot of complications.

Hi Sue! I just read your story. I admire you greatly. Hang in there! It sounds like we have the same health issues. I'm a little older. I will be 59 in June- God willing!! Thank goodness you have some close friends for help. It's very hard to navigate life with this situation. I thought I was stressed before this little surprise? Ha! I am beyond grateful I have support too. My husband Sam and 17 year old daughter, Jackie are keeping my spirits up.
I just got a visit from Cooper the therapy dog here at the hospital. Loved him! So darn cute! His handler was nice and said OHS is so advanced now it's like having your tonsils out! Love that!!

Sue Maize Sorry for this late response Jane—I often forget to check Guestbook posts. At this point you e already had your surgery and it’s gone really well. That is what everyone hopes for and I’m so happy for you! Hmmm, tonsils!’? You might have a different opinion now that you’ve been through it.😅 Have a safe trip home and get lots of rest for the best possible recovery. ❤️🩹🙏🏻

Hi! Yes, wish it had been only tonsils but I am glad the therapy dog handler said it to me. I was sooo nervous and it definitely helped at that moment. Actually I was terrified during most of it except right before the surgery. Dr Accola really made me feel safe. My mindset was positive right before surgery and prayers were done…that helped alot. My anesthesiologist did a great job in knocking me out. I literally felt like I was out for only a few minutes. Actually the recovery is coming along but I don't feel out of the woods yet. As each week passes I'm sure it will get better and better. I am having a hard time sleeping so I'm going to check with my doctors tomorrow to see if there's anything I can take for that for the short term that's non addictive. Be well my friend!! Soon you will be recovering too!
I see your booked now. Will be thinking of you as you move towards your surgery.
Sue Maize Thanks Darrell—how’s your recovery going?

Good luck with your surgeon. I like your routine comments. We all know its not routine or else we would not be on edge prior to surgery. Anyone not worried and scared before ohs is one cool customer. I had a dental cleaning today and told the hygienist i took antibiotics prior to coming in. She took extra pains to not cause any bleeding or discomfort. My last cleaning i thought i might need a transfusion.

Thank you for the note Sue! I read your story and I’m so glad my wife got me onto this website. It has been comforting to hear success stories, to see and meet others going through this season of life but also to be able to pray for them too. My family has been really pushing for me to take the Surgeons advice on having surgery next month but there’s some things I need to take care of first and do before I pick a date for surgery like my Will which I know you said in your story.
Angus
Sue Maize It’s a lot to take in Angus—I found out just before Christmas and finding this site got me through the holidays without losing my mind. I feel much calmer about it all now, but back then, the shock was staggering. My faith, over this time, has deepened tremendously however as my greatest peace comes from trusting God to give me the wisdom and guidance I need right now.
I’m glad you have a supportive family, having others to lean on is essential. Getting my will updated and putting other affairs in order were things I needed to get done anyway, but this certainly became an incentive. God willing, I’ll still be here for awhile yet. 😁🙏🏻

Who’s doing your surgery and where? Do you know exactly what type of surgery you’re having? God bless as you begin this journey and do reach out any time! 🙏🏻❤️🩹

I will say, it’s good to listen to your surgeon’s advice, maybe get a second opinion if you feel you need more peace of mind…but consider that giving up one summer may mean you’ll have many more with your kids, even better ones with a fully restored heart! Pray and trust God—he’ll guide you too! 🙏🏻
