I believe my greatest strength is that I have been fortunate to have trained with the forefathers and the leaders in the fields of Adult Cardiac Surgery, Cardiac Transplantation and Congenital Heart repair.
I have experience in all of these areas and practiced all for approximately 30 years. While my current practice is devoted to Adult Cardiac surgery, Surgery in the Adult with Congenital Heart Disease, and an emphasis on minimally Invasive Cardiac surgery, my former experience gives me a wealth of knowledge from which to draw upon for current and future operations, regardless of their complexity.
I have been devoted to the practice and care of Cardiac Surgery patients for 30 years. I have always and continue to consider taking care of patients an honor, but most of all a privilege.

"Dr. Barnhart was great. My valve is now working perfectly. I'm so thankful!"
-- Bob Strayhan, heart valve surgery patient
"Dr. Barnhart recognized the importance of immediate surgery on my heart after passing out 3 times within a short timeframe. He said that he could not ethically let me leave the hospital without surgery. I agreed and I had aortic valve replacement the next day. I'm thankful for his sense of urgency and I'm thankful for the work he did. I'm doing great 4 months later. No recovery issues. I would highly recommend him. "

Post-Op, he spent solid time with me, and I was also in the hands of the most wonderfully caring P.A.'s, nurses and maintenance staff. My treatment in every aspect was superb.
Though I had some of the usual ups and downs on my road to recovery, I look back at it all now--just four months later--as one of the most wonderful experiences of my life, because it connected me to life again, and not just on a physical level.
How do I feel now? Well, I was pulled over the other day for speeding--and I was WALKING.
Trust me, you'll never find better than this surgeon, this team and this hospital."

He and his staff really listened to me, and were highly responsive to my questions, concerns and issues. When my heart was failing fast, he moved up my surgery. He successfully repaired my heart and gave me back my life. I am so grateful to him and his staff. I wholeheartedly recommend him. When a dear friend called me this spring needing valve surgery I did not hesitate to recommend Dr. Barnhart. She just had her surgery and all went well! This guy knows his stuff and is a gem of a human being."

He is the head of the heart surgery unit at Swedish Cherry Hill. His bedside manner is quite appropriate. I was (so far at least) totally happy with my outcome."
