Telia Kiteley His surgery was done by Dr Sell-Dottin at Mayo in Phoenix. I think the surgery, which is quite complex, was surgically successful … she described the part of the ascending aorta that she removed as “friable” … so I’m guessing he could have had a disastrous event if not operated on.
But he had acute respiratory failure, severe hypotension, anemia, A fib, gained over 20 pounds of fluid… significant pleural effusions with 11 Thoracentesis procedures in the hospital… he is having another thoracentesis , outpatient, on Monday.
Yes, Kate, it will take some time to recover for sure! He started Cardiac Rehab, but stopped for now due to chest pain..we think it’s the pleural effusions ... Read more

Kate Watson That is a lot, Telia! I had pleural effusions too but was able to manage it at home with diuretics and breathing treatments thankfully, however I had a cough for 4 weeks and chest pain too, so my starting of cardiac rehab was delayed. I hope he is feeling a lot better by now! It is a journey indeed.
