September 28th, I went under the knife for an aortic valve replacement. Four hours later, I was in ICU and feeling calm and alert. Things were progressing nicely until Sunday (10/4) when my heart into arrest. When i came to, it was "just like on TV"...lots of people and the "paddles" being put away. Discussions followed about the need to implant a pacemaker/defibi. This was scheduled for 10/6. On the 8th, I went into arrest again.
The implant went forward and after 18 days I went home with a ton of prescriptions and a great attitude. Amazingly, I have had no pain requiring medication. I did have "at home" oxygen for four days while trying to sleep. There have been no complications other than some difficulty getting to sleep.
Cardiac rehab will start in a week or two and I hope to be singing a club around Christmas.
