Hallo everyone, nearly 1 1/2 years post Mechanical Mitral valve replacement. Everything were ok until year after surgery, I again starting to have shortness of breath, arythmias, severe tiredness. I desided to consult my 3rd cardiologist because the others last one said no it's ok to have symptoms. Dr M Guerra was not impressed with my stress ECG, it was all over the place. He done the Echo and became very quite. The verdict I now have modarate Pulmonary hypertention.( 2023 ather cardiologist identified pulmonary hypertention pressure 25mmHg, he rusched my angiogram because, next door theatre he had another patient. No wedge presurres was taken to established type off Pulmonary hypertion I had) In is letter to my GP he said is was of not importend. The Specialist Physcition started me on Sildenafil 20mg 2 times a day. I became worse, I saw a Thorasic surgion who did a TEE. It showed my mitralvalve is not working. Sildenafil was stopped. And I had the Mechanical valve replacement 10/1/2024 After my 6 weeks follow up, Dr was satisfied and handed me over to my second Cardiologist. 4months after surgery I saw him , did stress ecg, Echo, He said I'm fit to go back to work. I was retrenched due to my heart condition. I'm a registered Nurse Practitioner. No one want's to employ me because I am a risk to the company. 3rd Cardiologist was straight forward. he said my new valve is leaking and my pulmonary hypertention on Echo went up to 45mmHg, I also saw a pulmonologist to see if I have any lung disease. My Spirometry result was nearly the same as in 2022. I'm scheduled for left and right heart cath on 27 May, Tuesday. The Pulmonologist is also goiing to be present, and they goiing to evaluate my heart in total as well as my lungs, a special Ct- scan to evaluate the muscles of the heart and the lung tissue arteries and veins. Afterwords I will know what is goiing on with my heart. Does anyone experience Pulmonary hypertention as side effect. How are you coping. I'm a bit stressed about the outcome I researched Pulmonary Hypertention, and If it is due to my heart there is not a lot off options. But I have to stay possitive for the outcome. regards Retha
