On April 26 I was operated on for a bicuspid aortic valve, ascending aortic aneurysm and a left PDA by-pass. Being 58 and in otherwise good health my prognosis was good but it was still a scary time. My operation was done in Ottawa, Canada by Dr. Al-Atassi. The surgery took 7 hours to complete and I was then transferred to CSICU. An overnight there and I was moved to the CCU unit Saturday night. By Tuesday night I was well enough to go home and have been recovering every since.
Things have gone really well except fo a recent issue with taste buds. Starting about 4-5 days ago my taste buds are shot and nothing tastes good. It seems that time is the only thing that can help this, hopefully it will not last too long, I have already lost five pounds and since I am already a light guy, this is not good.
Kudos to the Ottawa Heart Institute and Dr. Al-Atassi, they saved my life!
