The aortic valve replacement with an Edwards bio prosthesis went well. Dr. Jeffry Swanson is one of the most experienced surgeons in our area with thousands of successful valve surgeries and he\'s a great guy as well. However I also had Total Heart Block. The Doc\'s had me on a temporary pacemaker for 3 + days in the hopes my lower heart beat might return, but to no avail. So a permanent pacemaker was installed on day 4.
I am now 3 weeks out from both aortic valve surgery and pacemaker surgery, and am doing great, walking and gaining strength and lung capacity day by day. Next week I plan to start Cardiac rehab.
I am grateful to all of the highly professional nurses, doctors, and others at Providence St. Vincent who give their best every day saving people\'s lives. Those guys were the greatest. And I am one lucky guy to have such a giving and caring wife Loretta who outdoes herself daily helping me at home, and my daughter Crystine as well.
I have to admit I did not expect the pacemaker. I\'d be interested to hear from others who have this condition.
But what can I say, I\'m vertical, feeling better every day, and thankful for every sunrise.
