Met with my cardiologist the other day and we talked for a while on choices and time frames. He stated again that I am a text book patient for a mechanical valve and I dont need to keep considering tissue at age 43. I guess he is right and I now am meeting with 2 more surgeons to see how i feel about them . I will then make my choice and set up a date for the procedure!!! WOW Cant believe this is happening but its a must have surgery of course. Would love to hear from those who had mechanical valve replacement and which one you chose.
Its been 3 weeks since I found out about my upcoming need for aortic aneurysm surgery. I am finding it hard to focus at work and think about anything else except my condition and the outcome. I am planning for the worse and praying for a miracle. Any suggestions on ways to cope and trun this into a positive?. I know the Lord has a plan for me, I just have to believe. I appreciate the support and comments sent so far on those who have made it through this. Thanks
Wow! So much to read and research after I was floored a few weeks ago after being told of my condition. I would love to hear any opinions as to which valve to go with. The one surgeon I spoke with so far has suggested the mechanical On-X valve stating at my age 43 that mechanical would be best so I wouldnt have to undergo another surgery 10 yrs from now replacing a worn out tissue valve. Would love to hear from anyone that has gone through a aortic valve and root replacement.
