I have posted before, but thought I was only an observer after my Ascending Aortic Aneurysm surgery ten years ago. My Dr. Khoynezhad performed replacement of the aorta with a dacron graft andrepaired the bicuspid aortic valve. I think it was the David Procedure. I thought that was the end of my story. I have been surprised to be worrying again about that darn valve. I had a CT Angiogram of the aorta, which showed some change and they stated it looked to be caused by the valve. What? So, since my blood pressure has been super high, which is unusual for me, she scheduled an Echocardiogram of the valve. Meanwhile for two weeks I have had server pain in my left shoulder blade, which I am assuming is unrelated, but concerning. I looked up on Dr. Google about this valve and read somewhere that replacement as opposed to repair lasts ten years. Great, this was done ten years and two months ago. Any words to the wise? I live far from Dr. Khoynezhad and don't really have a cardiologist. Should I be worried? April 10th is my echo. Will it be safe to have it considering the Covid-19 germs all over the place? THis pain in the shoulder (Scapula?) is severe and almost debilitating.

Mary, so sorry about your issue. It makes me worry about my own surgery which is very similar to yours. Something I need to think might happen in 10 years. As far as your Echocardiogram, you are the only one that can decide. I will postpone my cardiologist visit next week because I’m worried about the virus. It’s a personal decision. Hope you make the right one for you. God bless you

Marie Myers I think you have to wait to see what your echo shows, get your pressure under control, and then take it from there. I assume you are a younger patient since you had an aortic repair instead of replacement. What did your doc say about the shoulder pain?
