Greetings! This is my first post but have been reading from others and am finding it a very helpful site. I had mitral valve and tricuspid valve repair 6 weeks ago and have really had a successful recovery all in all. I am wondering how long to expect however chest pain from sternotomy and neck and back pain. I am moving around quite well and taking on a lot of my previous activities but am also fatigued after a walk, gardening etc. Due to delays in rehab (which I can see others are also experiencing) I will not be able to start for another week but looking forwarding to receiving more guidance on what I can and cannot do.
Thank you for sharing your experiences!

Tracy Fallu Shoulder and neck pain was bothersome for me as well. I was able to find a professional therapist who was able to massage those 2 areas while sitting up. You may want to look into that option.

E Taub Back pain was a big deal from me from day one. I found that once I started doing some mobility exercises - even in the hospital - and also engaged my stomach muscles when doing the exercises it really helped. Also sleeping with a heating pad at the ready was a big help. Pillow under knees while sleeping also was key.

Welcome to our community and to recovery MaryAnne. Shoulder pain for me lasted a few months and comes back once in a while depending on what I do sometimes. Because of COVID I was not able to keep going to rehab but have done well all in all. Just remember not to overdo it, even if you think you can handle it. Have you talk to your cardiologist about why you are getting fatigued? He might suggest a test or maybe a reduction of your activities. Cardiac rehab have helped many of our heart warriors. Good luck with yours and keep on writing. Continued good health and God bless you
