I recently had a X-ray of my lumbar spine due to a fall. It was noted that I have slight Aortic bulge but the report says the AP is 2.9, What does this mean, the Aortic size or the degree of the bulge. I do know I have Aortic Stenosis for several years that is being watched via a Echo. Now I will be going for a U. S. of the Aorta.

Amy Steele Is your aneurism abdominal or ascending? I'm not sure about how measurements are done. I didn't know I had an aortic aneurism until testing prior to aortic valve replacement. I was born with a bicuspid aortic valve and apparently it's not uncommon to also have problems with the ascending aorta. I don't know if it's due to additional pressures in that area once the valve becomes stenotic or a predisposition in conjunction with the malformed valve. I had my aortic root and a little of the aorta replaced in addition to replacing my aortic valve. I'm sure there are others on this site who have more medical knowledge that can help as well. Hope this helps.
