Are most TAVR patients put on calcium channel blockers and beta blockers after the procedure? I was put on them the first week of cardio rehab due to fast heart rate. I don’t understand how I feel so tired. I feel like it’s a side effect of drug. Can’t get appointment with cardiologist till April 16. He tells me it can take months to regulate drugs in your body.

I had TAVR on Oct 3. I also have COPD well managed. Since the surgery, I’ve been on blood pressure meds to slow a fast heart rate. I don’t feel better since surgery and I’m reading that some heart meds can aggravate COPD. Does anyone else have similar issue? It seems like cardiologist and pulmonologist are pointing the finger at each other! So discouraged.

Marie Myers I don’t have this issue, but I know that the older beta blockers like propranolol (Inderal) might hinder Lung function more than the newer ones like atenolol, metoprolol, bisoprolol, ect. You might need another opinion to tie-brake if those 2 docs are blaming each other. Not a good scenario for you, and I hope you can get some help! Beta blockers are generally good for slowing the heart rate and discouraging extra irregular heart beats. Hope that helps!
