It has been a little over 4 months since my surgery. I had Mitral Valve repair and bypass done by DR Gerdisch. First, let me say how grateful I am for the precision and care he performed with such intricate surgery. I knew I could trust his expertise because of the extensive work and research he has done and products he has developed. My heart now functions as it was intended to.
Second I would like to add that I am doing very well. Looking back I find myself thinking if it was all a dream. I know it is real because I feel so much better! I have more confidence in myself healthwise that gives me less fear of getting older.
My hospital stay was first class! My experience for having to be in the hospital was encouraging in many ways. With the things I encountered after surgery left me with many questions and to be honest, scared! The staff at St. Francis in Indianapolis were by my side to answer questions, tend to my needs and just encourage me.
I am now back to living my normal life once again and I thank God for his care and the skills he has given DR Gerdisch to make that possible.
On May 13, 2013 I had a mitral prolapse valve repair and single bypass surgery. I did very well recovering in the hospital. My third day into recovery I had a setback and went into Atrial Fibrillation. I came out of it the next day but went back into it a day later. This time cardioversion was performed at the lowest dose and set me back to a normal rhythm once again. The next day I was released from the hospital.
I am so thankful to have Marc W. Gerdisch, M.D. perform the surgery. He is world renowned for his procedures and was able to repair my mitral valve instead of replacing it.
All of the doctors, nurses... everyone helped to make my hospital stay good.
I am now recovering at home taking one day at a time and feeling better everyday.
Thank you all for your entries and the prayers going out.
