I’m 52 and have severe stenosis of my aortic and mitral valves. Due to other health reasons I was switched from open heart surgery to replace both valves to what they called a hybrid approach . They replaced my very severely damaged aortic valve via TAVR last week and they will monitor the mitral valve in the upcoming months and decide when to replace it via small incision thru my rib cage. My question is “Have anyone taken this approach?” And “How do you feels?” Since I had the procedure I’ve had multiple daily ocular migraines and just the feeling of medicine head. I also had two instances of partial vision loss for a few minutes each time in my right eye. I’ve been back to the cardiologist for two checkups since last weeks procedure and they say everything looks good. I have a pacemaker and they interrogated that and it show me all good.

Marie Myers I wanted to comment on the daily ocular migraines, since I experienced them also. They did decrease with time. It was interesting to me that my doctors seemed to not know about this phenomenon, but many patients on this forum have experienced and commented on them. I think these percutaneous valve procedures are life-savers! Godspeed on your journey!

Klara Čičić Dear Frank, I, too, had ocular migraines (ocular auras, partial visual loss, double vision a few times) multiple times a day after the surgery and now they are not that often, but still occur. I didn't panic cause I heard many people on this forum had it. When researching a little more deeply, I found few studies about it, but it is definitely not widely recognised in the medical community, among cardiologists and neurologists. I had right mini-thoracotomy recently for mitral valve repair, it is a demanding surgery, an open heart surgery. I've had it done and all went well. It was painful in those first weeks, but after 4 weeks it was a lot better. Now I feel fine. Good luck
