Elaine Cutri I've had friends do that for knee surgery transition from hospital to home. I've recommended to another woman in your situation to do just that. I think it's a great idea. You'll be able to get some help, gain confidence and heal in a safe environment. You may not need to stay that long, but it's better than being by yourself after having so much attention at the hospital. If you have more questions, there are many lovely people in this group to help answer them and offer support. Welcome!
Ellen DeLeon Thanks you. I am also wondering if it would be covered by Medicare?

Emily Rowley My Hospital had a Sacred Heart Home 🏠 across the road where patients who fitted their criteria could go, but it was mostly palliative care. My Hospital were great in after care, before I had my Op they asked me if I needed any services like in home care, safety fixtures, meals on wheels etc. A Nurse rang me up once I arrived home to make sure I was okay and comfortable in my house. It is a good idea to ask around the Hospitals & find out if it costs extra.

Mary Wagner My surgeon made me sign saying I had someone to stay with me for a week (I am single too). The hospital wanted me to go to a rehab hospital but I was stubborn and came home. They did start a home health routine. The visiting nurses were fabulous. See if you can get meals on wheels because cooking is really hard. I was extremely lucky that 5 weeks of lunch and dinner came from friends and colleagues.

My aunt stayed in an assisted care facility for about a month post surgery (she was late 50's at the time and lived alone). She appreciated the support with meds and 3 hots and a cot. Her insurance covered the rehabilitation as well.
