Had aortic valve replacement on October 27, 2016. Great hospital and staff. Had violent coughing after surgery ( I have Bronchiactisis and paralyzed right diaphragm ) could feel plate moving. Had cat scan 3 days after operation and things looked O.K. Had cat scan last week because of redness around incision. The scan showed split sternum and moved plate. Scheduled operation with plastic surgeon. His work will depend on what he encounters during operation. He will pull muscles over sternum and reposition plate.
Went to other blogs and read about patients with same problem. Now, I am worried, read about failed attempts , no successes .
Has anyone had violent coughing resulting in same problem. How did you cope with coughing? How did your operation turn out?
P.S. Had problem breathing while lying down for a month post opt., problem went away when I stopped taking amiodorone.
