its been a year and 9 months since my cabg x3, aortic route repair , and aortic valve replacement .My cardiologist is very happy with my rehab diligence results but i incurred heart failure and am on 80 mg lasix daily and he will see me in a year. I walk 9-12 miles weekly , watch diet and do my weight training but am still weak above shoulders. 5lb weights 3 x 10 reps 3 x weekly is about it and i cannot do a regular pushup . I am thankful with great attitude but wondering if "it is what it is" and curious if i am lone ranger . blessings to all as we share together.

Your training sounds good (great really) so maybe a physical therapist could help you with upper body strength. Indeed, post sternotomy surgery we are all not the same for a long time.

doug cherrington fluid retention is 1 of the 5 things that can result post op as complication .My cardiologist guided me quarterly until by process of elimination i was/am doing great. i had assumed wrongly my lasix dose would be lowered at last visit. my main question is my weakness with guidance of trainer hence my 6 upper body weight training 3 days a week with my 3 miles after on those days. thank you for spending time with me
