So today is the second day of the first year that I have a fixed/repaired heart valve. I'm not making a lot of promises but am going to continue working on healing, both physical and emotional. I learned that I was on the heart/lung bypass machine for a little over eight hours. The procedure has had real impact on me and it's been really tough emotionally. I've cut back work hours so I have more time to spend at the gym and working on myself. I've started a Gratitude jar, I'm hoping this will help me pull out of the negativity and depression, along with some other things I'm doing.
Just found this so I am going to work on incorporating the journal into my support network. Tomorrow I will be going to a Mended Hearts support group for the first time. I'm hoping there will be people who understand cardiac depression and can give me some ideas to work my way through it.
