Hi everyone
I'm a newcomer; just diagnosed and wearing a life watch
Heart monitory for 3 weeks. One more week to go.
I have been complaining of pain, exhaustion, short of breath for 3 years now. I have had a pacemaker since JAN 99.... But it never completely took care of my symptoms. Also on topral xl for 10 years.
I moved back to calif and needed to secure a new cardiologist and he wanted a complete work up
Which revealed the new diagnosis of mitral valve regurgitation moderate but with symptoms. I have known for a long time that something wasn't quite right with my heart. And so now I know...!
I feel vindicated because I was told nothing was wrong
But I knew. What revealed it was an echocardiogram
My doc put me on lasix (I am not sure why) pulmonary edema....I'm going to start that after my 3 week of life watch monitoring. Then the doc will tell me what' the plan is. I'm all for getting this fixed because it can be miserable feeling like this.
I am glad it is the mitral valve (the lesser of all valves I believe) and not aortic.
Does the community think I should consider surgery now prior to heart damage ?
My doc mentioned surgery down the road...
Hope to hear from some that have gone through this
It sounds like most feel much better afterward!!!
Thank you to all who read and post
