I am writing for the first time since I just discovered this site. I am 2 1/2 months post-op after an aortic valve replacement, a tricuspid repair and second MAZE procedure I had MVR and Maze 13 years ago. Even considering age (now 70) and some new co-morbidities, I am not at the level of recovery I had hoped to be by this time. The one major life-style change is that I retired to SW CO and am living at 7000 feet instead if sea level. Sadly, I think I have to move back to sea level...... Any advice?

Catie B Hi Christie, I'm sorry you're struggling and are not feeling as well as you had hoped by now. I have no experience with high altitude and I don't know whether you're dealing with mainly fatigue or more daunting or different symptoms. But in my mind, it would make sense to confer with your cardiologist to be sure something else isn't contributing, before pulling up roots. Or did you already get feedback from a physician recommending the move?

Christie Berner Hi Catie, Thanks for writing. My cardiologist says I will know when and if it is the right thing to do. He has been encouraging about my recovery and I see him in a few weeks. I do have a trip planned which will give me almost a week at sea level, so actual experience may be the answer.
