Hi everyone. I just signed up. My TAVR was done in 2015 when I was 71 years young and had problems breathing. My problem was genetic. Otherwise, I was very healthy. The surgery went great. Surgery on Monday out on Friday. The nurses and doctors were amazed. One thing the surgeon was surprised to see, was that my heart is in the middle of my chest, not to one side or the other. LOL
I have a question for all those who had surgery a few years back. Are you having issues with your meds, such as under-skin bleeding or bruising? I take Metropolo Tarate. (sp) The last year or so, my skin, eyes and hair all became very dry and I bruise at the slightest bump or if I brush by a piece of furniture. My cardiologist, just brushes it off as, "It is your skin type". My skin was always oily and has never been fragile. I have read where this medication can cause this condition. If any of you are having these issues, I would appreciate knowing. Of course, this is a much better problem than my out come would have been without the surgery. I pray and wish all of you who are going to have this surgery, that you have an experience as easy as I had and your health is restored fully. God bless.

Marie Myers Are you on any aspirin or other anticoagulants like Plavix or Eliquis Carol? That is the #1 cause of bleeding/bruising skin. Also, long term use of steroids can contribute to bruising and fragile skin .And yes, we do get more fragile as we age , some people more than others. Hope that helps...
