One year ago today I had my mitral valve repaired at the University of Michigan. I would like to thank Adam Pick for the book that helped prepare me for the journey and the awesome team led by Dr. Steven Bolling for working their magic.
I still read this site each night before settling in for the night. It becomes a part of your routine even if your not posting very much. Those of you just beginning your journey will find great comfort in this community.
Today is my 6 month anniversary since surgery. Everything has went great so far. Returned to work full time on June 1st , 6 weeks after surgery without incident. Just a year ago I was beginning the process of finding the right doctor and going through all of the tests. Time sure does fly.
3 months post surgery now from mitral valve repair. Recovery has went well. I now find myself looking back on the journey of this past year and consider it all a blessing. The range of emotions I went through from last August when I was told I needed surgery, all the way up until today has been an incredible roller coaster. What at first seemed as the worst year of my life turned out to be my most memorable. My family supporting me by my side the entire way. The incredible team at U of M doing their amazing work led by Dr. Bolling. For those of you just beginning the journey, have faith that brighter days are to come and you will be better then ever. You one day might even look back and miss the journey, the great people you meet along the way...
