A few years ago, I had AVR (bioprosthetic) and subsequently required a pacemaker. Knowing I will eventually need a second AVR or TAVR, I am curious as to what happens to the pacemaker leads? In the case of a valve-in-a-valve TAVR procedure, for example, are they just flattened between the new and old valve, and if so, what is the likelihood that this will damage the leads?
