4 weeks today. Recovery is much slower than I would like it to be. First thing this morning I had three of the neighbor's dogs to get out of my yard. Might have pulled something in the process. Then a two mile treadmill walk. A short nap and a trip to walmart. I can't believe how tired I am!! I hope that this gets better soon!
Hard to believe its been two weeks since my AVR. Pain has not been bad at all for the most part. Have been using regular Tylenol since I got home. I had some bad pain in my chest and shoulders the other night and took a trip to the ER with it. They did all kinds of test and couldn't find anything. We got home at 5am and the pain was still severe. pain meds made no difference at all. I went to my surgeons office the next day and he told me I should not have stopped the pain meds so early. The good part of all this is they did all kinds of tests to rule out blood clots. Feeling much better today... I hope it continues.....
Hi, This is Jennifer, Bill's wife. Just wanted to let everyone
Know that Bill made it thru
the surgery Ok. He came
Out of surgery around 12:30 today. Still has the breathing tube and his valve was ln worse condition than the Drs thought but he is doing well. Will update more later!
Just got done with my pre-op everything is ready to go for tomorrow. Have to be at the hospital at 5am. We are a little nervous but somewhat calmer than we were the last few weeks. Looking forward to getting this done!!!
Got a call from my surgeons office on Thursday afternoon, as if we didn't have enough stress!!! Referal problem from my cardiologist to the surgeon should have came from my PCP.. Took Friday off work to get that straight. a few phone calls later all was back on track for now, hopefully it will all be done before Thursday's surgery. We don't want to have to reschedule at this point.
Met with my Cardiologist today. Talked about valve options. He thinks a tissue valve might have been a better choice. My Surgeon recommends a St Jude mechanical valve. I think at this point I'll stick with the Mechanical valve. Getting close to "V" day. have my dental exam tomorrow. Reading through this site I see that March is a busy month for all of us. I remember all of you in my prayers as we get our turn. Its good to see so many success stories...
Met with Dr Landvater at Rex in Raleigh today. Will have my AVR on March 22. Not much time and a lot to do. Will be getting a St Judes mechanical valve with a mini-sternotomy. Jennifer (wife) and I are nervous but are optimistic for a good outcome.
4:30am: Getting ready to go for my first cath today.. I wonder why so early.... hopefully this will give me a better idea of when I need to have this surgery done. Both me and my wife are a little on edge.....
