So I am new to this site. I have had two mitral valve surgeries since I was diagnosed at the age of 2 1/2. The first mitral valve surgery was because neither mitral valve was big enough to support me. They placed a mechanical valve in its space. The second mitral valve surgery I was told to do with calcification causing the valve to not function correctly. I was recently diagnosed with a BAV and I am currently suffering from calcification of the aortic valve. My question is, what causes all the calcification? Is it a vitamin deficiency or food that I am eating/drinking or not eating/drinking? Any help or tips would be greatly appreciated. I am following a doctor at the moment to get a more detailed diagnosis.
