Hello, I’m new here and thankful to find a place like this to find answers. I have a mitral valve prolapse with regurgitation. I have been doing echoes for the last 14 years . I I just turned 68 years old. I started noticing being a little out of breath lately and chest feeling a little strange and a little lightheadedness. I’m wondering if it is time to contact my cardiologist and how long after the symptoms until I repair or replacement is done? Thank you so much. Have a blessed evening.

J Alexander Lassally Hello - It sounds like it is time to revisit. Remember, the cardiac surgeons will go through the options and weigh the timing best for surgery. The cardiologist, will however, coordinate the TEE test which will be the definitive determination of timing. Make sure to get a few opinions ! Ask away.

Robert Miller Definitely go and see your cardiologist. From my experience, things can go south pretty quickly. Hopefully, everything is fine but at least get it done for peace of mind. Ask the size of the heart, the EF, etc. If the cardiologist says you need some procedure then you can ask here and hopefully someone will respond.
