Some fourteen years ago at approximately 48 yrs old I suffered a BRVO (Branch Retinal Vein Occlusion) and damage to my retina in my left eye. It was discovered that the likely cause was embolism from excessively high levels of cholesterol. In addition to treatment for my eyes I was informed by a consultant cardiologist at the time that it would be most likely that an Aortic valve replacement would be required in 12 to 15 years time. Since that time I take 80 mg artovastatin and 75mg Aspirin daily.
Well the 14 years has gone by real quickly and I am now 61 years old and I am just recovering from a biological valve replacement plus 2 coronary arteries. I am just mid into my third week post op and I was on the beach today with my Golden Labrador and I am getting stronger ever day.
