About Me (In My Own Words)
I was diagnosed with a heart murmur when I was 16 and they think I probably had it from birth. I am now 58 and had my first AVR in 2011 but the new valve is already leaking badly so I have got to have another AVR later this year. I will probably have a mechanical one this time despite not being keen on taking warfarin, but the risks of having further operations is a major factor as I had to have my spleen removed 18 months ago when it turned rogue and started killing off my blood cells, I therefore have a compromised immune system, making my operation and post surgery treatment high risk. Just waiting for my date now.
