About Me (In My Own Words)
I am 45 years old and was diagnosed in 2015 with mild to moderate MR, mild TR and an enlarged heart (Left atrium moderately dialated). My Tee scan showed a structurally normal valve, no stenosis.
11/2016 My echo results show that I have Moderate MR with a normal sized atrium and mildly thickened mitral valve. Trace tricuspid & trace pulmonary regurgitation. My diagnisis has changed slightly. I am very concerned About my condition, concerned that waiting too long to repair the valve(s) could result in unrepairable damage if waiting until my heart is weaker and my condition is severe. Im constantly tired, short of breath, daily sharp pains in my head and neck and have regular mild chest pain (Atypical) daily. I havent been scheduled for surgery due to surgery only being considered with severe MR. I'm trying to prolong my life. I've discussed my concerns with my cardiologist. He has stated that I shouldn't require surgery for 5 years or more. The first cardiologist I've seen back in 2015 told me I needed surgery after a series of tests. Since then I've changed doctors and he disagreed. My condion has slightly changed in less than a year based on my echo.
