About Me
Hi All, Recently, I discovered I need to have open heart surgery to repair a bicuspid aortic valve and ascending aortic anurysm. The congenital undetected bicuspid valve triggered an anurysm (bulge) in the ascending (top part) of my aortic valve. This past Thursday 4/25/2013, I had two consults, one at Tampa General Hospital # 1 in Florida and one over the phone with the Cleveland Clinic #1 the nation in Thoracic Cardiac Care. Both Doctors are known for their surgery skills. Both hospitals have evelauted my records. The main difference is Cleveland Clinic is a larger facility with more valve surgery experience and resources. I have decided to have my surgery at Cleveland Clinic. My surgeon will be Dr. Eric Roselli. My outpatient pre-op is scheduled for May 21, 22, and 23. My surgery is scheduled for June 10th. Since all is giong to go as usual for this type of aortic valve replacement, I will be in the hospital for 5-7 days, in hotel respite care for 2-3 more days, and then on my way back home to be followed by my local cardiologist. The recovery time is 8-10 weeks. Throughout the summer, we will keep this site updated.
