I went in for the "I'm 50 now, so I better have a routine physical," late last summer. My healthcare professional detected a heart murmer and suggested an echocardiogram...I decided to put it off until later that year. I went in for the echo, expecting nothing would come of it. To my surprise, the interpretation came back with the recommendation to see a cardiologist. I scheduled an appointment with a cardiologist and was shocked to find out that I had fairly severe aortic stenosis. Looks like I'm going to get a new heart valve!
