About Me (In My Own Words)
My aortic aneurysm was 7.5 cm and diagnosed after I could not catch my breath during an higher elevation hike and went to the doctor after returning home. Apparently I had a hard attack on the mountain and developed severe cardiomegaly. After that dr. visit everything happened very quickly: tests, hospital, surgery. It was during the height of the pandemic - no visitors and my hospital stay was terrible, although the care seemed fine.
My aortic root was repaired, aortic valve replaced with a tissue valve. The mitral valve is being watched.
I was back to light exercise within two weeks of surgery and after a couple of month started hiking and teaching Yoga and working as a Personal Trainer again. I am hoping that when the time comes and I need another valve, a TVAR procedure can be done for me.
