About Me (In My Own Words)
I am an active 47-year-old man. I work out, surf, ride bikes. I also am a college basketball coach. Last June I was told I needed mitral valve repair. After multiple doctor visits and consultations, we chose Dr. Adams at Mount Sinai. We decided it would be ok to wait until after my season to do the procedure. I was of course scared and anxious all year as I am married to a beautiful woman, and we have to young kids 8 and 12. After our most successful season in our programs recent history I went in for surgery. Dr. Adams repaired both my mitral and tricuspid valves. I was in ICU for less than 48 hours and home in 4 and half days. Today marks 12 weeks and I have been, walking 2 miles a day, riding my bike 5 miles. Surfing, playing golf back to coaching and starting lifting weights again this week. My heart rate is still a slight bit elevated, but they expect that to resolve over time. I can't thank Dr.Adams and the staff at Mount Sinai enough. After a year of anxiety and some ups and downs physically and emotionally during recovery. I have my life back as will anyone reading this post!! Stay strong and have faith everything you are feeling is normal this too shall pass!
