About Me (In My Own Words)
I went for a physical at 40 years of age and my doctor told me about my bicuspid aortic valve. I had a echocardiogram done at that time. The doc said to have it checked every year, but I paid no attention and never had it checked.
I went back for routine physical at age 51, and again the doctor sent me for a echocardiogram. One week later I got a letter from my doctor. It said I have moderate severe stenosis of bicuspid aortic valve. My doctor sent me to cardiologist, who ordered transesophageal echocardiogram, and then Coronary Angiography. The angiogram showed clear arteries. The Cardiologist then said it was time to talk to the surgeon.
I now have a date for my Aortic valve replacement. January 6, 2011 at 5:30 AM. It all happend Kind of fast, but now I know the reason that I have been short of breath, and the feeling in the middle of my chest, the tighting whenever I did any exercise.
