About Me (In My Own Words)
My aortic valve was replaced with a bovine (cow's) valve. I had several serious complications develop (each of which required readmission to the hospital for additional surgical procedures), but, am doing pretty well now (6 months later). I still have PVCs (Premature Ventricular Contractions) that present themselves as missed heart beats. Lots of them ... all of the time. Note: they are not really missed heartbeats, but, heart beats that are very close together and manifest as one , so they feel like a skip. These "skipped" beats happen about 20 times per minute. My cardiologist just informed me that they are not lethal, however, they are uncomfortable. He upped my dosage of Metoprolal, and we're going to see if that helps. I exercise vigorously, and regularly, without any problems.
