Needed knee surgery - had been aortic valve eco tracking over a number of years done as a precaution. Eco and subsequent catheter procedures indicated severe (no blockages)= no knee surgery. Will meet with surgeon on 3/14 and hopefully surgery the following week. A bit scared but not as much as in combat and all for the best.
Met with surgeon last Friday (surgery tomorrow morning 3/18) no robotic for aortic valve replacement - will do the small upper chest procedure unless complications during surgery occur. Went with a tissue valve given I am 67 and if I need another hopefully the catheter procedure will have advanced by then so I do not need to be opened up again.Special prescription soap for three days and need to stop certain BP diuretic meds tonight. Interesting stop eating at midnight but clear liquids including coffee (w/o cream or sugar up until 2 hrs. before surgery. Also instructed to take my regular morning aspirin - different.... Put all business, personal and family matters in best order I could given the short time. Continue to pray but no more than normal. Will take my little prayer book that got me though VN into surgery in a sterile bag. My wife will be with me and even though I told them no need both my sons will be there as well. Makes me feel good. Hoping to update this after I get out of ICU.
