About Me (In My Own Words)
My name is Robert Mukabe. I am a 59-year-old husband and father of two wonderful children, a 15-year-old son and a 14-year-old daughter. My family and I live in Zambia.
In November last year, I began feeling persistent dizziness and fatigue. At first, I assumed it was just part of getting older. But as the symptoms grew worse, I sought medical help. After months of uncertainty, repeated doctor visits, and various tests, I finally received a diagnosis: mild to moderate mitral valve regurgitation.
I am already struggling with daily tasks due to constant fatigue.
Unfortunately, I am unable to get the necessary treatment here in Zambia, as there are no specialists available locally who can provide the valve repair surgery I need. After watching heart health videos and reading inspiring success stories on heartvalvesurgery.com, I am filled with hope that this surgery could restore my health and let me return to my family as a strong, supportive husband and father.
The treatment I need is only available abroad.
I have contacted Dr Vaughn Sternes of Keck Medicine of USC and yet to make an appointment and I am seeking help to travel to receive this life-saving care. The funds I am trying to raise will cover the surgery, pre- and post-operative tests, as well as airfare, accommodation, and other essential expenses.
