About Me (In My Own Words)
I have a 4.9 cm aneurysm with bicuspid aortic valve. I knew about the valve and was told as a teenager that some day it would need to be replaced. The aneurysm was found after have CT of chest for another reason. I was referred to Mayo and was told I would need the operation at some point and that it wasn't urgent and could be scheduled. That was back in January, I have always been active and healthy now I have restricted activities and was placed on blood pressure meds. Waiting for this surgery has been difficult and scary. I want it to come and be over with but I don't. I'm trying to remain positive and thinking about this as just a new chapter in my life.
