PC sent me on Helo 03/25/2022, minimal breath, AF, no pain, excessive fluid, to BSA Amarillo, Tx.. Amarillo Heart Group stabilized AF thru ablation, TEE and cath for TAVR workup. Follow up with Dr. Cabrera, a month later, and AF returned. He said that it would be long duration to TAVR, due to all the Drs.that had to approve and sign off, and recommended handing me over to Dr. Wu at BSW-FW and one OHS to put in aortic valve and determine if mitral valve regurgitation was due to extreme AV calcification and damage, and eliminate any clotting that could surface in appendage. Met Dr. Wu and he recommended AF ablation, tissue AV, evaluation and repair mitral, if necessary, AtriClip thru OHS. Went to FW on July 4 and surgery on 6th. AV bovine replaced, AC installed on appendage and increased pressure at AV stopped regurgitation and MV expected to have full correction without surgery to valve. Dr. Wu said AV was so damaged I wouldn't have made it to Christmas. Surgery was uneventful. Post check up with Dr. Wu and he passed me back to Cabrera and after ecco evaluation on 10/31/2022 he said next appt. 9 months. I live in an extremely rural ranch country in NM so my wife and I did my rehab. No home Home Health Care at our home area and BSA was a 200 mile trip. Rehab has been slow because I had just had one full knee joint full replacement and the other rebuilt about 9 months before this happened with the heart. Being able to garden has been the push I needed to pick up my pace in rehab. The only problems I have had is "pump head" anger issues, depression, gardening helps that and the discomfort associated with the clip. The team at BSW, Dr.Wu I just can't give them the thanks and praise they deserve. I also thank God and my PC Dr. Darrell Willis, Tuçumcari, NM for making the call on putting me on the Helo.
