About Me (In My Own Words)
(written by Annette Andrews, daughter of the patient) This story actually begins in 1978 when my mother was diagnosed with aortic valve disease. It is believed that her heart disease was congenital. In 1985, she had surgery to replace the faulty valve. We were very lucky to be able to have her with us until 2000. She passed away on Friday, October 13,2000. Now my dad, the current patient, is facing aortic valve replacement due to stenosis. He will also have a double bypass. His primary symptom was shortness of breath.
