About Me (In My Own Words)
I am 59 yo and had a surgical aortic valve replacement. Apparently, I was very lucky as my aortic stenosis was found on a CT scan for an unexpected kidney stone. I am physically fit and climb high altitude mountains as a hobby, which requires a tremendous amount of daily fitness. I was asymptomatic with severe stenosis and might not have had a good outcome if it wasn’t for my kidney stone! I am in medicine so the surgical route was most appropriate anticipating a TAVR down the line.
