About Me (In My Own Words)
Last week (April 9th) I was diagnosed with bi-leaflet mitral valve prolapse with severe mitral regurgitation. They say this is caused by mitral annular dysfunction. I also have been getting ventricular ectopics. Which have been giving me bad palpitations and presyncopes. I am waiting to see a private cardiologist next week. I am so confused about treatment options. The hospital wants me to commence Atenolol, but I am hesitant. To me this is a bandaid solution to the actual problem which is the mitral valve prolapse. Just looking for advice and guidance. I am 43 years old, fit and active, so this has been a huge shock!
