About Me (In My Own Words)
Today is August 6, 2021. On Feb. 2, I was told I needed to have my aortic valve replaced. The problem was congenital, my valve was quadricuspid with severe regurgitation. I was basically in shock (I knew I needed to have my heart checked but the previous cardiologist had disregarded my concerns two years earlier). Then came six weeks of paperwork, decisions to be made, medical exams, etc. , and finally, surgery. Open heart surgery, mid sternotomy, heart-lung machine... Three months later, I am still above the grass, with ups and downs which I hope will disappear soon. I started walking 1-2 hours but then, just three months after the surgery, I felt an acute pain on my shoulder and was sent to the emergency room. I was hospitalized for three days with Dressler Syndrome. Back home, I was told to rest a lot. I am now having new ECG, Echo, Blood tests and, on Wednesday 11 August, will see the cardiologist. On top of it, I waited a bit to get the Covid Vaccination because I wanted to feel my heart stronger. Meanwhile, I got a positive test. But everything seems to be o.k. As you see, it is just an ups and downs process, but I hope with an upward tendency. I will come back here for some additional info. Please feel free to connect with me if my experience can be of some help to you.
