About Me (In My Own Words)
I am 45 years old. I was diagnosed with bicuspid aortic valve in 2001. I had aortic valve replacement (pig valve) on July, 8, 2009. At the time of the surgery they saw that my aortic root was also deformed (too big on bottom) and the valve they put in was not a great fit. They would have to "keep an eye on it". I had another surgery on July 12, 2010, aortic valve replacement and root replacement. I am 6 months post surgery and I feel good except for feeling my heart pounding pretty much all the time)
